It's time...

to post something. As I start typing, I'm not sure what... I'll just let this one unfold with my fingers. I often say I think with them anyway...

So in the last week... I've worked more and more at Macy's and it's killing me. The job is very physical with lots of walking and sweating (there are all these hot spotlights everywhere) and they've reorganized the back where all the shoes are. And by "reorganized" I mean that they've decided to eliminate any organization and so the shoes are all now mostly random which requires about 3 times the amount of walking as we now all run in circles back there trying to find shoes. It frustrates us and the customers as they wonder if we've gone back there to sit down and have a snack while they wait in their stocking feet for shoes to try on.

Plus, I realize that when I started last Christmas I was working about 20 hours a week, but it was the holidays. Then after Christmas, they had me just fill in so it was like one or two shifts one week then a week or two off, then another shift; very manageable. Then I even got all of May, June and July off! Now I'm working about 15 hours a week since about mid August, and I'm burning out. I wrote a note to that effect and left it for my supervisor, then heard her discussing with another employee how she will not/can not hire any more staff. So, maybe they'll fire me. I'm not sure. I like it there, but working 3 days a week on top of a full time job leaves little time for cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, laundry and mom stuff.

In other news, this has been an exciting week to be a Minnesota sports fan! I've always been a Favre fan, and some years the Vikings have been painful to watch, but this year combining the two and winning games is lots of fun. Also, we got tickets to the Twins game on Monday night and that was Fantastic! I figured if they lost, then we would have gotten to be at the very last game ever at the Metrodome, but they WON! It was so exciting. And Abby is such a fan, she persistently called in and got us tickets to the next two Yankee playoff games. Yes, they may lose, it IS the $300 million plus payroll Yankees versus the $30 million payroll Twins after all, but it will be fun to cheer them on in the dome another last time. And who knows... maybe a miracle will happen....
