Wednesday Update

Abby's feeling a little better, but still has cold-like symptoms that she doesn't enjoy. It's interesting to see her deal with illness as she's getting older versus how she was years ago. She still wants lots of mom time though. And happily, she's been sleeping in her own room (still on the floor) for about a month now. But, we either read in my bed or read in her room before bed and I think she appreciates the mom time. Currently we're reading the Little Prince because she wanted French Philosophy. And although I LOVE the study of human nature, I don't know that I'm the best at explaining abstract Philosophy examples. Some are easy like the King who insists that the universe obey his commands but knows enough to command things they were going to do anyway. The vain, self-absorbed flower is a little tougher. But, we'll see where the story takes us.

And I got to ride my bike yesterday and today. The little computer is working now so I can see that I ride 3.5 miles (almost exactly) each way and I make the trip each way in 20 minutes. I think I average about 13mph. I use the motor to keep up my speed on hills and slopes, and I can feel the effort still in my leg muscles. The most difficult part of this bike has been the break-in period on the battery. I was supposed to fully charge and discharge it 3 times and that took until last night when I attached a headlight and drove it up and down the street in the dark until the battery died. The good news is that when the battery is dying, if you're pedaling, it still gives a reasonable assist so I really don't have to worry about having the battery die on the way home from work. I will still make it. And now I can charge it back up without waiting for the battery to be completely dead. I love the bike, and I think Oscar does too. I promise, pictures coming soon.
