what a nice weekend.
no, i don't really have thoughts about Memorial Day as a holiday where we remember the soldiers that fought and died for our freedom. yes, i truly appreciate their tremendous sacrifice and gift. but, i suspect we're slowly becoming more and more socialist as a country that is feeding the lack of personal responsibility and sense of entitlement of its people and i sort of suspect that many of those soldiers would be a little disappointed. and yet, at the same time, i also know they'd be proud because as a country we GET to be socialist if we want and those who don't want to get to disagree. i'm not as worked up as some people about it though, because in the end, i know God wins no matter what.
no, my thoughts are more about how rare it is to have 3 days of perfect weather on a holiday weekend in MN. and that i got to sleep until almost 11am each day. and how we took my mom and dad to Friday night's Twins game where we got to see Kevin Slowy pitch a great game and the twins had a nice win. and saturay night we had a bonfire and roasted marshmellows for s'mores. and then on sunday we tore of most of the decking on our deck that's going to get replaced and then yesterday i relaxed with Abby and visited Ikea.
so, i also am grateful for long weekends with nice weather. here's to many more!
