so, it's nearly one am and i'm wide awake. exhausted, but not the least bit sleepy. and i can't do a thing about it so here i am typing. i can't do anything about it because it's caused by my latest prescription in my never-ending illness saga prednisone. my lungs were still not right (felt like there was an elephant on my chest) so i did as my doctor directed and called and got the prescription. my lungs are feeling better but my face is bright red and i can't sleep. these are not unusual reactions to the med and i did call the doctor to inform him. he had me cut back the dose but not stop it because it's helping. so i'm rambling here with not very much to say. i will be fine, so no worries. and i believe i will eventually return to my typically pale complexion shortly.
and, coldplay. wow. i rarely listen to secular radio being all wrapped up in sanctus real as i am... usually someone has to turn me on to something cool for me to come across it. well, they were on saturday night live last week and i didn't much care for their second selection but the first was Viva la Vida and am i impressed although probably about a year behind the rest of the world in appreciation of this piece. i have to say that the live performance was hauntingly entertaining. i loved the composition and the particular use of percussion as well as the performance. and the lyrics are oddly comforting and unsettling at the same time. i LOVE it. so i've had it on repeat on my ipod most of the evening. someone tell me if any other of their songs are worth checking out... maybe this will end up being the only song i like of theirs, but i like it alot.
and it was a nice accompaniment to the evening's activity of the annual pumpkin carving. here are the results:
i think the wickedqueen is not my best work. i did her first, and i think from the meds i didn't do my usual meticulous effort at cleaning the inside of the pumpkin and after i did snow white's eyes i wished i'd done the queen's differently. but, that just means that i'll have to repeat this theme next year for improved results. i do have to say these are also not original designs. i intended to draft my own, but the illness of the last month prevented that. BUT, they are a freehand copy from an internet picture FIA shared with me. so, still some artistic effort required on my part.
we, of course, are looking forward to halloween here tomorrow. the weather should be reasonable and connie and her kids, becky and my parents are all coming for dinner and to hang out around the front yard campfire while we both work the neighborhood and give out treats.

I'm glad that somehow you got to know Coldplay because they just happen to be about my favorite band. There are so many good songs of theirs that I don't know which to list. I love the album Parachutes, you really can't go wrong. My all time favorite song is Clocks from the album A Rush of Blood to the Head.Others favorites include: Everything's Not Lost, Speed of Sound, Shiver,Don't Panic, A Message. OK, I'll stop now, but they are really an amazing band. By the way, your pumpkins are impressive. I usually do an intricate carving as well but this year with two one-year-olds running around it was an impossibility.
thanks for the coldplay recommendations. i will definitely check more out.
i hope to see pics of the little ones on your blog...i forgot to take pictures of abby...but we had a lot of fun. i hope one of my sisters got a picture i can get later...
