I'll start with the thankfulness part. after i dropped Abby off at zoo camp at 8 this morning, i crossed over 35W on my way to work and noticed ALL the cars just stopped in traffic and remembered again how appreciative i am to never have to drive in traffic and that I'm coming to work whatever hours i feel like working in my jeans and with my dog. this gig doesn't pay great, but has fabulous non monetary benefits.
i was also thinking i haven't done a mom update here in a long time. the short answer is that her recovery really just plateaued in about May. she's still not smoking (hooray!) but she breathes shallowly (although not on oxygen) and so gets winded easily and for that reason doesn't do much. she's working at the bar selling pull tabs for the Lions 3 nights a week and happily there's no smoking there but beyond that she mostly watches TV or plays computer solitaire. we can get her to our house for dinner once a week and she goes to church but is reluctant to go anywhere else. so, not fantastic, but stable.
I've also continued to be very domestic lately. i stopped cooking so much because it was just too hot to do that, but last Thursday i picked up a pattern and some terrycloth fabric to make a swim cover up. my sister has one and I've been searching for years but can never find anything i like. it turned out pretty well, and i got it finished by Sunday afternoon. of course pool season is about over here, so I'm hoping that we can swing the Hawaii trip we're supposed to make in January so i can get a chance to use it then.
I've been bothered by headaches a bit too much lately, so I'm sucking it up and wearing my glasses more at work looking at the computer. it's tough getting old...but, good that I'm at least getting some use out of these expensive things.
Friday Connie and i are borrowing a friend's pop up camper and going to a local music festival to see sanctus real! we're excited about that!
