so, the thing last week just lasted that one day. it lasted all day, but by saturday i felt much recovered. maybe just because it was saturday. and eryn arrived saturday. if i believed in reincarnation, i'd have to wonder who eryn is.
and, although i am truly enjoying yoga, it's not the spiritual aspect that is capturing me, but the mind-body link, energy, increased flexibility and reduced pain results from it. i've also noticed that since i've been doing yoga, the need to take the anti heartburn medication is greatly decreased and that surprises me especially with all the inverting and twisting i'm doing. if ever i'd feel the need to keep the acid out of my throat it would be with that.
i picked up a yoga dvd from the library and did about a half hours worth of back bends and standing poses this morning as well as listened to the introductory interview with this dvd's instructor. i like how she (and others) describes yoga as a practice. it's something that she still "practices" after 30 years. the point of yoga is not to perfect the poses but to just continue to practice and maybe improve for years and years. she also recommended only practicing for 20-30 minutes a day as a beginner and that's what i've been doing so it's validating to know that i'm not doing it "too little".
