too damn cold again today. and it's a bit cruel because monday the high was 45 and today the high is -5 with a windchill of -30.
23 days left until we get to go to hawaii, although i'm a little less excited at the moment. we learned that kevin's crappy $120 a month insurance plan has a high enough deductible that none of his broken hand was covered. so, that was about $525 for the office visit, x-ray and cast. and in 2 weeks we get it taken off which will probably include another x-ray and will most likely not be covered. and, he tells me, he's been giving away half of all of his car sales (which are minimal in January anyway) because it's too hard to write them up. so, paycheck is smaller and expenses are way higher than planned. bummer. so, we'll have to take a credit card advance and then pray that he sells a ton of cars so we can pay it back.
but, on the bright side, i did look at the cost of adding him to my insurance plan and that would be $388 a month for full coverage, no deductible and just an office co-pay. at an extra $268 a month in premiums times 12 months, we are paying way less than his plan plus our out of pocket expenses.
oh, in other medical news, my mom's continued death wish is dragging out more slowly and painfully than ever. her foot was bothering her for about a month, and when it got too painful for her to handle it, she finally decided to see the doctor. her foot is black and has very little circulation left. i guess her other foot's circulation is bad too, but it's not black yet. so they changed her high blood pressure medication and she sees a cardio-vascular surgeon tomorrow to see if they can do anything to help. i worry she may have to have it amputated. see how great life is after 52 years of smoking? she expected to drop dead quickly of a heart attack like her mother did when her mother was only 37, but instead my mom is going a very slow and tortuous way.
time for prayer. not much else i can do.
