Just to be clear, Anna arrived as expected and mom and baby are fantastic! Anna was 7 lbs 8 oz and 21 inches long. She has dark hair and I got to hold her for about 45 minutes. The c-section went off without a hitch. I wish i didn't have to work, so I could just go hang out at the hospital with them today.
But before Anna arrived, Kevin called me at work with sudden and severe stomach pain in his belly button area. I called to see if I could get him into the family doctor, but they couldn't see him until 5. They had me talk to the doctor on call who said if it's pain doubling him over, it could be kidney stones or appendicitis and to get him right to a hospital. So we took him to the same hospital Becky was delivering at.
After several hours of pain in the ER and a CT scan later, the pain subsided right around the time the doctor arrived to say it was an obstructed bowel and he thought Kevin should stay at the hospital for observation and testing. Since Kevin's pain box was empty, Kevin got dressed and left.
I'm frustrated because that's not my preferred approach to health care. I think pain = problem = fix it. Do something. Find out what it is and make it go away so it wont come back later. This problem is going to come back later, but since Kevin's fine at the moment he's inclined to take his chances. Ugh. I may just kill him myself.
So, pray please that Kevin gets himself in for a checkup and a colonoscopy before his pain returns or worsens into a much more difficult situation or I hurt him.
