Halleluiah!

the Saturday singers sang again this weekend and it was wonderful!! not the same level of arrangement and detail we had with Ron, but for the first day together in about a year and a half we did well. And the best part was the enthusiasm of our new director, Tim!

the biggest difference was that in the two or three times i tried to participate under the previous director i felt like we were there to witness her practice and not to practice ourselves. asking questions was so discouraged that when we had questions, we'd ask ourselves and all agree we were too afraid of being chewed out to ask questions. contemporary songs or even a more up tempo hymn was NOT allowed in any way.

Tim was so open to questions that at least twice in every song we practiced he'd stop to ask, does anyone have any questions about that verse or that refrain, and he'd genuinely wait to see if we did. and if someone did, he happily went over and reviewed parts again to help us. he was thrilled that we wanted to do a different meditation song than what the more formal adult choir was planning and he was so excited by the guitar and bass accompaniment from Paul and Rob. he was also very welcoming to Abby. What a refreshing change! I'm so happy to get to participate again in some way!

and all that despite still having this upper respiratory crap. my throat is still very sore and i have an unending cough that is wearing me out. but, i keep reminding myself of something i heard last year.
"If you do nothing, your cold will last 14 days. If you treat it, it will be gone in about two weeks."
