Preparing for Goodbye

We got news yesterday that the only grandparent i've ever known, my grandma, may be soon ready to go home. She's 13 days away from her 93rd birthday.

She's been in a nursing home for about 2 years, but lived on her own until she was 90, then had a year in a senior apartment adjacent to an assisted living facility. so, she's had a healthy, active independent long time. her husband died in 1966.

a few weeks ago they think she had a stroke and yesterday they determined that there is no blood flow below her knees. they asked her if she'd like to see a surgeon to take action for it, and she said no and went back to sleep. the doctors told my aunt that her body is shutting down so they are giving her plenty of morphine to keep her comfortable.

Grandma is here holding Josie next to my sister connie & abby - from 2007

of course we always knew this time would come, but it's never easy to say goodbye.

Sorry to hear about your grandma. Quite an impressive life she's led. You and your family will be in my prayers.
Abby's haircut is really cute. I'm getting ready to do the locks of love thing myself. It will be the second time in as many years.

Oh, and yes you are to list six quirky things about yourself and then "tag" two other bloggers that you know to be "it". You were the only other blogger that I knew so that's why I had to pick you. Hope it's not too bothersome.

thanks for the message.

no, it's not too bothersome, but i may wait just a little bit to be better inspired. ;)

i fear if i tried right now it would be quite death centered.
