so abby's birthday is in 2 weeks and i'm reminded how fortunate i am that she's got a summer birthday. it wasn't all that fun being pregnant during a hot july, but that was a long time ago and the benefit now is that she gets a pool birtday party. that's nice because i don't really have to plan party games - the kids just swim. i just send out invites, get a cake and some party favors and we're set. i don't even have to stress out about half a dozen or more small children ripping through my house.
i am a bit stressed about the cost though, even considering the benefits i get. car sales are way down and expenses are up. that's true for everyone i think. and although i don't believe i am overly materialistically focused, i'd still like to honor my child by getting her a gift. and i will because we are of course blessed and fortunate enough to have other areas in our household budget to cut. so we will and that i think is the story of the year in america. we're not exempt.
