briefly

so mom went in for her angio-gram yesterday morning and my dad called be at about 2:45 crying. it's always rough when your parent cries. he said they found a major blockage in the arteries leading from mom's heart to her legs and they were doing an emergency arterial bypass. they didn't think she would survive if they tried to remove the blockage or if they left it and also if they didn't do a bypass she would lose both of her legs.

i was a little surprised at how emotional dad was, but i left work, brought oscar home and picked up connie. we met dad and becky (who also left work) in the waiting room. the surgery went well, and of course, she HAS to stop smoking. her recovery though, is slow going and rough. she stopped breathing in recovery, which we didn't learn about until after they brought her to her room, and so she's very groggy and very uncomfortable. i stayed overnight in her room with her last night doing my best to keep her comfortable. Becky relieved me just after 7 this morning and i came home for 2 hours of sleep. i helped my dad with pancake breakfast shopping and he's back at the hospital now. i came home to do some laundry and housework and to get a shower and i will go back to the hospital for the evening shift. becky will take the overnight tonight. i can't stay up like that 2 nights in a row. it was rather stressful with the lack of sleep and mom's roommate is a challenge. she was hollering at 3pm and then thought she was having a heart attack at 430, so very little rest there.

thanks for the prayers.
